From our two nationwide community engagement trips, we learned about barriers that prevent belonging and inclusion for a diverse range of communities in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
To respond to these issues, we developed and support cross-sectoral groups (called constellations) that work to improve belonging and inclusion in a particular area. We support our constellations through facilitation, funding, network offerings, and secretarial services.

What are constellations?
Learn more about the constellation model, and how it works to strengthen community impacts
The constellation model refers to how projects focus and grow through networks and partnerships. Constellations are rōpū of committed individuals and organisations working towards a common goal. These goals vary in area and scope, though they all work towards improving social cohesion and belonging in Aotearoa, Aotearoa
Once each constellation comes together, the members will choose how and what they contribute, share what they’re doing already, learn from each other, find the best ways forward, and work together by sharing resources and supporting each other. From here, we act as the group’s secretariat, organising any meetings, facilitation, events, services, and resources required to achieve the goal of the rōpū.
We adopted the constellations model because we believe everyone affected by a decision should be able to have meaningful input. We trust people and communities know what they need, and we also believe a lot of great work is already happening. We want to make sure we grow and support that.
