Adequate food
Everyone in Aotearoa New Zealand needs to be able to access healthy and affordable food. Healthy food and basic fruit and vegetables must be made more affordable (even subsidised if necessary) to ensure access for everyone. An important part of this would be providing school lunches for children with families and whānau who cannot afford nutritious food.
There’s a lot more to that [equity] than a healthy lunch - it's about poverty, it’s about the stigma of not having, which leads to social exclusion especially with kids. It also leads to not being able to learn when you’re hungry.
