Welcoming Week 2022 – Special Events in Nelson Tasman

To celebrate Welcoming Week 2022 – Te Wiki o Manaaki, Inclusive Aotearoa Collective Tāhono (IACT) is collaborating with Tasman District Council to host a series of workshops in the Nelson Tasman region.

Tūrangawaewae workshop in Tapawera

This hui draws on the Māori concept of tūrangawaewae (often translated as ‘a place to stand’). At IACT we have been using tūrangawaewae in our conversations with Pākehā and ethnic communities to explore the meanings and values that we give to our understandings of belonging in Aotearoa New Zealand and to discuss what this might mean for our sense of belonging in Aotearoa NZ.

When: Friday 9 September 2022

Time: 10am – 12pm

Venue: Memorial Hall, 92 Main Road, Tapawera

Spaces are limited, registration required. Contact Birte.becker-steel@tasman.govt.nz  to reserve a space.

Conversations about Belonging workshop in Māpua

This hui will be a chance to share your thoughts about belonging and inclusion. The workshop will explore:

  • When do you feel like you belong?
  • What stops you from feeling like you belong?
  • What needs to change so you feel like you belong?

We want to understand the identities, values and emotions that underpin belonging and inclusion today, to engage communities in solution making, and to amplify their voices and experiences in the Nelson Tasman region.
